'96 4.0 Cam cover torque and a filler cap question
Can't seem to find this anywhere, including the CD workshop manual. If anyone knows off the top of their heads, please let me know.
Go ahead and answer that if you can, as I need the information sooner, but I have another question as well.
On the flip top filler cap assembly (this is a convertible), there is a pipe that extends off the back. This pipe is meant to connect to a very short a hose that connects to a pipe leading to the fuel tank.
If you look in the workshop manual and the parts book, this short, bent pipe is shown exiting horizontally from the rear of the assembly. There are two holes for the pipe to fit. One extends horizontally from the rear of the assembly, and the other extends from the base of the assembly. The pipe was slotted into the base of the assembly on my car, with little to hold it in there.
The pipe has a hole in the side of the interfacing end, and this hole is meant to be oriented toward the filler neck, so as to provide an escape route from the filler neck.
If anyone knows, which way is the darned thing supposed to go? I can't seem to find an answer, and it appears that this pipe doesn't look the same as the one in the picture. It is possible that it is the wrong pipe, but I can't be sure.
