Default Aav question

Just a quick aav question. After overhauling mine and having the adjustment screw out, where’s a good place to start after re installling the aav on the car. By that I’m sure I read somewhere to turn the screw fully in then back off 2 1/2 turns. Then run the car to temp and adjust idle accordingly. Does this sound reasonable? As always many thanks for your help.

brinny,

I think I remember that Grant's suggestion was to back out 3 turns as a start point.

Good luck

Paul

Thanks Paul. I thought it was something like that, knew I'd read it somewhere.

They are all different.

Some screws are coarse thread, some are fine thread, so around about the 3 turns mark, and bring it in as the thing starts to close down.

Memory, oh that wonderful thing, is about 1 turn ( 6 flats) when the E fans come on, gave me 750 idle speed.

Then I dumped the AAV on all of them, best thing in my opinion, but not for everyone.

This is the PDF. I actauly did this one in the early 90's, before Forums and computers as such.

A lot of Aussie "common sense" involved, AKA beer drinking, and just thinking waaaay outside the square.

I used what I had lying around, purchased bugga all, maybe some JB Weld??

Greg has done his HE, and went a different path, maybe he has a write up, I forget.
If I ever do another it would possibly be Greg's version, but the chances of that are less than zero.

I did indeed do a mod, this thread shows some of it and the cabin switch
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...av-mod-242959/

The attached (including fine reproduction of hand drawn diagrams Picasso would be proud of) show how I modded the AAV itself to leave it just as an idle speed adjuster. The solenoid in the thread provides the extra air.

This idea of mine was a Grant Francis inspiration.
