I recently bought this 1990 XJS sight unseen on ebay. Although in fair condition, there are some items that seem to be Jaguar typical. One concern is the brakes.

When driving and using the brakes infrequently or upon first using the brakes, the ABS and BRAKE warning light will illuminate for a few seconds. If I pump the brakes the light will illuminate the first time, go out, then stay out through the pumping. Other than that, the brakes seem to work fine. I am just afraid that the ABS module may be getting flaky. What else could you suggest I look for?

 

I had the same kind of problem when i first got mine the ABS light was on constantly, turned out the insulation around the wires in the wheel arch was a bit dodgy so taped it up with electrical tape until i could fix/replace. hope this helps

 

Mine was similar to lfc_ozzie. I had a bit of wire to the ABS sensor perished on one of the rear wheels that was causing it.
