Default Aftermarket wheel horn wiring

83 model. I understand how the original steering wheel horn setup works.

The backside of my aftermarket horn button has the typical two prongs - one for “hot” signal and one for ground.

Simple enough, but I’m wondering how others have managed to connect a wire from the hot prong to the brass piece at the end of the rod that goes down the column (pic below for clarity). The brass end is really just a little nub, though there is a hole in the middle. Silly as it sounds, perhaps a small sheet metal screw can be used here…brass is pretty soft last I checked.

A soldering job or is there a cleaner way? Thanks

I soldered a wire on. Only way I could figure out to do it.

Thanks Jal. I assume you soldered the other wire to the inside of the aftermarket hub for ground?

No, the hub is grounded thru the steering shaft. There normally is a plate included with hub kits that provides a ground lug for a spade connector.

I tapped the brass and screwed a ring terminal. An easier solution would be some kind of bulet connector friction fit into the shaft
