Air Filter Options

Air Filter Options
I don't seem to have any luck with air filters on my XJS. Firstly I purchased replacement paper type filters from a local supplier in Australia. Within a year or so the paper started to unglue from the metal frame in places. I regularly reglued them with silicon but it seemed the high temperatures meant the repairs never lasted long.
So then I tried a K&N filter. I was a bit dubious from the start. The filter seemed slightly undersized and it was very hard to get the housing cover back on while sealing on both long edges of the filter. I reckoned the filter should have been another few mm wider.
Anyway now after just 6 months of installation in 2 corners the rubber has split.
Where can I get decent air filters for my XJS? Really all I want is a good quality paper element that won't unglue from its metal frame.
It seems quality of parts is the biggest issue with owning these cars. Don't talk to me about the lifespan of oil pressure senders...

Marke,
I have used Crossland brand for as long as I can remember, never an issue.
I did use Ryco once, that was on a S2 XJ6, rubbish, and probably 30 years ago.
The V12 does seem to destroy the LH element more than the RH side. This is due to all the oily fumes that collect in there from the breathing system connectors. I dont run that stuff, and both sides stay clean, and oil free.
I replace ALL the airfilters, on all the Jags, annually, and dont really look at them as they land in the wheelie bin, its just a service item, and I am done with it by that time.

When you have a moment, could you please explain what you did to get rid of the crankcase breather?
Thanks

All sorted, well fed and lubricated.
The removal of all that junk really started by my first attempt of getting the distributor cap off. All these pipes etc in the way.
The oil dripping out of the LH air filter casing aslo added to that process.
I removed the rubber cover at the front of the LH cylinder head, and removed the filter capsule inside, and binned it. Then refitted a NEW rubber cover. I then found a plastic hose fitting (plumbing supplier) and pushed it into the cover hole, then attached a length of 5/8" hose and directed it down alongside the power steer pump and cut it off just below the sway bar.
The 2 PCV vac spigots on each inlet manifold simply got capped off. The "Y" pipe and PCV valve were suitably binned.
The large hole at the rear of the LH air filter casing was filled with a bung, coated with RTV.
The spigot facing forward that the hose FROM the rubber cover was attached to was also sealed with RTV.
At the same time I removed both the "over-run" valves and the alloy covers from the front of each inlet manifold, making a suitable alloy plate to fill the void.
A couple of snaps from the file to show the basics.
