AJ16 Starter Removal
Hey Gents
My 6 year old Bosch Starter ( less than 8k miles on it) is starting to make occasional ugly noises. I am going to try and remove it and probably have it rebuild at a local shop, hopefully that is a better quality proposition than having it fail after 6 years. Last time I had it changed by the shop.
How hard is it to remove the starter in this car? From above or below?
Or, does anyone have a long lasting replacement starter suggestion?
Thanks

I did mine completely from the top. The one bolt is a pain, and I ended up pulling the one heater core hose to get it easier. Overall it wasn't too bad. I also had mine rebuilt at a local shop.
Thanks—would it be easier from underneath?
I didn't even look at it from underneath really. I'm a big guy so from top was definitely easiest for me since I don't have a lift. I think certain things would have to be done from the top anyway. Especially that bolt on top of the bellhousing
