Default Another lock issue

I’ve read so much about Jaguar locks the last few days I’m going numb.

Anyway, have a 1994 convertible and my drIvers door is permanently locked. I locked the car using the interior door lock arm. The drivers door locked and when I tried to unlock it, nothing happened. All I get is a “click” out of the central locking system. When I pull either the inside or outside door handles, the lock isn’t engaging. Is there anyway to disengage the locking system other than using the interior lock or the door key which hasn’t worked on this car. By the way, the passenger door never did lock.

It sounds like the rube goldberg set of lock parts have failed. There are many parts that could have crapped out on you, or it could be the little motor.

You're going to have to remove the door card and investigate what part has failed.

A jammed part #18 isn't too rare, some lubrication seems to fix it more often than not.

I thought of that. The only problem is getting the door card off. The door is locked and can't get it open. It looks as though I can get to the door panel with the exception of the chrome trim near the front of the door. That hidden behind the dash.Unfortunately at this stage, I'm not sure if my problem is mechanical or electrical. Prior to this happening, I could lock both doors from the inside. When I engaged the locks there was a distinct locking sound. I guess when the actuators engaged. Now, when I move the interior door lock, all I hear is a very faint click. It sounds like something mechanical engaging/disengaging in the lock. I don't get that distinct "clunk" I was getting before. I disconnected/reconnected the battery hoping that something was just "out of cycle". No luck. I checked the fuse for the door control module, thinking the fuse blue and that's why I wasn't getting the "clunk" when engaging the interior lock bar. The fuse is good. I going to check the door control module itself today.

rwolak,

By using the interior lever, you're relying on the use of the remote linkage rods. Try using the key again which is acting directly to operate the lock actuator.

Good luck

Finally got the door unlocked yesterday. Had to put pressure, in the unlocked position, on the interior door lock while holding the door handle open. I then pulled on the rear of the door and it finally open. Everything seems to be working fIne.
