Wink Anyone with a convertible!!

Mine is a 91. I'm not sure if this applies to a facelift model BUT! If you EVER have a failure in one of your rear window motors AND it is UP, (stuck up and won't move), You will NEVER, I repeat NNNEEEVVVEERR get that third screw out that you see through the window on the top of the inside cover in order to remove the cover to fix the motor. A persistent and clever mechanic WILL be able to do this BUT! he will kill the screw and open a wide gash where it was screwed into the sheet metal in order to remove it, and you will no longer be able to reinstall the screw without further time consuming work. TRUST me, it happened to me, so I suggest that anyone with a convertible, either remove this screw or cut off the threads and glue the head onto the chrome escutcheon and then glue the whole thing on so it looks like there is a proper screw there. Don't do this? Well, you've been warned. NOT something you want to go through for 6 hours! BudP.S. This is the information age, At LEAST check this out and THINK. You know these cars, ONE LITTLE SCREW!

Yikes!! What a pain.

Looks like they thankfully did away with that cover on facelift cars. The casing is just attached by fir tree fasteners.

Cheers,

Allan

Uh oh....I have removed the relays so that my rear windows stay up as the right rear window motor on my 1990 gave up the ghost and I'm hunting for a replacement, with no success so far. I fear for what this means when I do go to have it removed, though *sigh*...
