I was investigating a problem I was having with a door latch not wanting to snap back and along the way I noticed I had a broken clip BEC9538 NOT holding one of the two rods across the door.

I ended up buying to parts to make this work:
(1) Dorman 785-112 License Hardware Kit with #8x1/2" screws. The plastic square anchor fit into the square hole and then I hung two 3/16" nylon cable clamps from (2) Dorman 86108 Nylon Cable Clamp Assortment.

Both purchased at Advance Auto.

I am attaching a photo to show you how it works. Seems to work perfectly. I think the 1/4" clamps could work, but the 1/8" will not.

Thank all. So as it was just the back fixing plug that was broken l went to Autozone and bought some white plastic square pushin fixings, cut the broken back part off, drilled a hole and fixed it to the trim plug with a screw. Looks almost original. Simples.....
