Default Best service manual for V12 1988 XJS convertible?

Hi Guys. Haynes manual for V12 doesn't cover convertible. Can anyone please advise a good manual for my 88 V12 XJS convertible? Not digital, must be a book. Many thanks.

Isn't 88 the H&E? I wonder if there even is a manual for it.

That being said, look for a bentley or perhaps the OEM Jag manuals, I can't imagine operating solely off a haynes manual. Hopefully an early convertible owner can chime in soon with more help.

I used to have this manual with my 1989 V12 convertible, and that wasn't too helpful.
I can't seem to find anything good that actually covers a 1988 onwards XJS V12 convertible.....

If you're looking for repair info pertaining *specifically* to the convertible top aspects of your car you might wanna Google search including words such as "training guide" or "supplement".

Jaguar (and others) often release supplemental manuals for this sort of thing. I'm 99% sure that's the case with the Hess and Eisenhart cars.....if that's what you have

Also look at the tech info in the sticky threads at the top of this section.

Haynes manuals are 'iffy' at best...even without the complication of having a convertible. The 'official' manuals typically sold nowadays are better but even they can be confusing, as they're compilations of material from the true Jaguar workshop manuals given to dealers.

My experience over 20+ years and 5 Jags is that you need multiple sources of info: Jaguar repair manuals, the Jaguar S57 wiring guides, tech bulletins, the dealership training guides and 'new product' publications, parts catalogs.

Cheers
DD

Thanks Doug. That's one hell of a library... LOL
I have a Haynes for my X-Type and one for my X300 and they stop me breaking stuff when doing light repairs. I was hoping for something complete to help me light-restore without doing more damage, but I guess you are right. 5 books, 3 CD ROM's and internet connection to my shed may be the way to go.... Fighting this modern tech stuff all the way, I am!
Thanks for the time to respond.

There is stuff on the convertible in the body section of the 4 service manuals. Do you have a factory convertible or a H&E?
