Brajke pedal sticking down, "ratcheting" when pulled up
'85 XJ-S V12 coupe
Brakes stuck on today, each time I use them I have to lift the pedal back up. It seems like the pedal is jamming on something, because when I pull up on it, it feels like it is almost ratcheting or grinding as I pull up on it, and there DOES seem to be positive pressure behind it while I'm pulling up (i.e. I am pretty sure the return spring is intact, the pedal is just jamming). I assume the pivot bushing is shot, possibly other issues?
How hard is it to remove the pedal assembly? I assume it's a disaster, I couldn't even get in a position to see up there.
Where is the brake return spring? Is it external or is it built into the brake booster?
