Hi,
I am trying to find a replacement for my accumulator that is well under $600. The prices are just crazy. Any idea where I can get one. It can be any brand as long as it will function in the Jag.
Thanks,
Jomo
There are generally two options. One is Bosch 0265202070 from a Mercedes. It is a smaller volume, but I hear that it still works. Second option is Wabco STC2784 which is intended for a P38 Range Rover. Cheapest place I found to get that was Island 4X4 in the UK.

Hi Jomo.
I have put the Bosch unit on mine. Works fine and I get around 6 pedal pushes before the pump cuts in to recharge. I got mine from Motor Parts Direct £73.00 inc vat. This was a special price as MPD are one of our suppliers at work.

WARNING! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! get a 'Shop' to do this Job as it is highly DANGEROUS! and you could easily kill or Injure yourself!
You Have Been Warned!
Though I think it is prudent and wise to warn people of the potential danger, I wouldn't go so far as to say you can't do the job yourself. Do NOT attempt to it if you don't already know the exact procedure, but knowing the proper procedure makes it a rather benign task. It's akin to taking off a radiator cap, it can be crazy dangerous if you take off in the wrong circumstances.
I've attached the ROM procedure for reference. The most important steps are to turn the car off and take the key out of the ignition (or to be safest, disconnect the battery), and to depressurize the accumulator. The ROM says to operate the pedal 20 times, so just do it 30 times to make sure. Once properly depressurized, it's a very simple and straight forward.

I'm not convinced that it is actually smaller in actual performance. It isn't as tall, but it is larger in diameter, and it could have a more efficient design or bladder setup. I'm pleased I went with the Bosch unit because it works great and looks better made.
Either way, we're going to have to find alternatives because AC-Delco doesn't make the factory unit anymore.
