So, I bled this system well, and I have a rock hard pedal ( engine off ) that slowly fades down. 17 seconds of hard pressure and it will bottom out. engine on, decent pedal stiffness and more rapid fading.

Master cylinder seals are leaking, correct?

edit: I should add that no leaks were found anywhere in the system.

You haven't said what year you have? Does it have ABS?

Definitely the master cylinder if no leaks in the system.

 

How often do you brake for 17 seconds ? Why would you even test it like that? Could be lots of things.

 

Perhaps I wasn’t clear. I am not driving the car. I am testing the braking system. If I am at a stop light I’d like for the brakes to operate indefinitely. I frequently need them to hold the vehicle stationary.
