Default Brake warning light is on

Hi,
Two years ago I replaced the rotors, calipers and pads all around my car as well as the two front hoses. No problem until the end of last driving season (Nov 2020) when the brake warning light came on one day. I parked the car for the cold season that day. Started up the car today and the light is still on. The brakes work fine and the fluid level is fine. The proper fluid level tells me that I do not have a leak (??).

What should I be looking at.

Thanks,
Jomo

Is the handbrake on? Maybe try putting the brake on and off and see if it's a sticky switch?

If you mean the red low fluid level warning light, this is switched by a float in the reservoir cap (on pre facelifts anyway, and probably on your car) if not a float switch in the reservoir. This may have got jammed on. Try giving the cap a good shake, or poke the float a bit.

Today I tried what Greg suggested but no luck. There doesn't seem to be a switch on the reservoir cap. I did shake the cap as well as the reservoir but the light remained on.
I went a bit further. There are two wire harness on one side of the reservoir (the one perpendicular to the driver side fender. The two pin connector furthest from the fender was disconnected with no change. However when I disconnected the four pin plug, the one closest to the fender the warning light did go out and when I reconnected the plug, the light came back on. There was a 3rd harness plug on the other side of the reservoir and when I disconnected that plug there was no change.

What should my next step be?
Thank you!

You need a wiring diagram and need to find the switching mechanism. There must be a float switch somewhere, in or around the reservoir. See if you can find it and then work out where the short is. The circuit is grounding somewhere.

Greg,
I really consider strongly about what you said about the float being in the cap or somewhere. What I saw in the cap did not seem to be a float but knowing that you are real good with Jaguars I took the cap off of my 1995 XJ6 put it on the XJS and the light went off--for a good hour of driving. Now I just need to track down a replacement cap for the reservoir.
You helpers are amazing!
Thank you,
Jomo
