Bumper Modification
I removed the battering rams and came up with a thin chrome alternative.
These are two sets of blades, modified to fit, one set welded to the other. In the front, the fog lamps were moved to the hinge bracket to cover the bumper mounts.
In the rear, I removed the bumper shock mounts tubes and the reinforcement plate. I welded patch panels over the holes, then painted.
I installed a facelift grille and still need to install the front spoiler.

The wheels are 17" revolvers from a 1998 Jaguar XK8. The tires are 245/45-17 Yokohama's.
Doubling the blades was an easy way to get a good fitting bumper without a lot of modification. It also shaved 60lbs off the car.

Here's the illustration. It was scanned in by another member of either this board or Jag-Lovers. Sorry that I don't recall the original source. The only difference is that in the illustration below there are two vertical supports present (and some sort of license plate bracket), which supports I think would greatly enhance the function of your bumper and prevent it from being bent upwards/downwards if impacted.

I'm looking for a chin spoiler, but they seem to be hard to find. I guess most of them have fallen victim to a curb.
I think the only other thing I'll do to the front is to change up the lower grille a little and add a mesh screen to keep leaves and crap out of there.
DK, since you have a pre-HE, those black uppers look almost like my blade mod.

i removed my battering rams back in 1994, i used thin wall tubing to mount the rubber bumpers, NO i dont want anyone bumping into it! and saved a bunch of weight. my chin spoiler was all messed up, and ripped,so tossed it.
my lower grille is polished SS on rim, and flat blacked on cross bars( but that mesh sounds more up to date), mesh wasnt cool in the early 90s, odd how things change!
my trans cooler is mounted just below bumper.
