Default Car Cover Recommendations?

I have a cheapo, thin cover that I use in winter but it has seen better days. Also as I'm taking the car to a fair number of shows now, I'd like one that is a bit more substantial and good for both indoor and outdoor use.

What's a good one, any recommendations?

Cheers,

Allan

AlanG, I use a cover I got at Pep Boys. Silver in color and cost about $60 as I remember. Although my XJS sits under a carport, I still keep it covered to help keep it clean and my Beagle from scratching it. A caution about heavier covers: don't cover a dirty car as it can damage the paint, especially if outside in the wind.
Cheers

RagJag,

My car is always garaged at home but I generally only put the cover on when I'm not going to use the car for some time. I always wash it before doing so.

Now that I'm doing a number of concours shows where I drive my car often several hundred miles the day before, I wanted something a bit more substantial and weatherproof. Particularly as most often the car is parked outdoors overnight. Also I would imagine the thicker covers would provide a bit more protection from scratches and fingerprints caused by curiosity

I have been looking at the Noah by Covercraft, they sell a custom fit version for the XJS. Does anyone have experience with their covers?

Cheers,

Allan

I have also used noah for all my cars. It is a very good product. Soft, breathable and easy to put on..

Default Noah

I have the Noah on my 95 XJS 2+2 - I have two others on different cars. They are excellent and I can report next year how the Noah works out over the soft top. I also have an Ultratech from the Cover Store and it seems to bead water off it a bit better but is much thinner and I asume does not give me as much protection from bumps or hail. These are all weather covers and worth the money - Outside in the rain and snow. The Custom fit is also very good especially when ordered with the mirror pockets.

I have the Covercraft Noah car cover, customized for the XJS, from AutoAnything.com. Cost was about $235. It's VERY nice. Had it since April and it keeps the car very protected. In fact, we liked it so much we ordered the same cover for my husbands BMW M-Roadster - this one was cheaper and higher quality than the BMW OEM cover he had previously. If you call or chat, you can probably get a discount on the listed price, too.
