Hi there.
Thanks for the posts and the download info. I have an '85 XJS, how much different is the rack in my '85 XJS? I also downloaded the R134 retrofit info as well. My '85 has the original compressor in it. I had no pressure in the system, so the compressor probably leaks. Is there a place that will rebuild it or should I just get a new one? Is there a smaller replacement compressor for that?

I replaced my original compressor with a Sanden one as used in more modern Jaguars like the X300. A bit smaller, just as god or better, and makes plug changing A1 and B1 a bit easier too.

Rack is effectively identical as far as removing and replacing and fixings to the subframe are concerned.

Thanks again Greg. I've seen the Sanden and wondered about that. It seems to be a bit smaller. I noticed when I removed mine, apparently the "PO" replaced all but those 2 for the same reason. I had to take it apart in order to do the compression check. In the process of pulling the engine to work on the oil leaks and was going to handle the steering rack rebuild at that time as well. BTW, compression is good.
