Default Code P1777

Hi all, 95 XJS convertible, stuck in limp mode. Code reader says P1777.
Any ideas where to look? Thanks in advance, Todd

Cool Code P1777---FIXED!

On further research I found that Jag issued a TSB stating that this code on 95s was indicative of a TCM failure. That explained the "limp mode" problem. The trans wouldnt shift. Stuck in 3rd. They recommend replacement with a 2400 AH 001 model TCM. I was able to find an 004 unit (XJ6) cheap and tried it.
IT WORKED! Shifts like a dream...

Default Code P1777

Hi!

I'm having the same problem with my 1995 XJS convertible. Just went into limp mode last night when I started it up. Ran the codes this morning and I got a P1777.

For you the problem was the TCM? Where did you find a replacement? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!
