Default Cooling fan diode pack

Hi,

Yesterday I took a multimeter to test the diodes of the cooling fan diode pack (1982 XJS V12 HE),
2 diodes had a value of about 524 both were 1N4006 diodes the other one was a different type and looked a bit of it was blown (it is somewhat dense)
How ever it tested to be good with a value of around 425.
So the question is is 425 enough? or is it bad?

And if I want to replace this one, will the 1N4006 do the trick?

I assume those readings were with meter on diode mode, or was it on ohms. This makes a difference with the reading value.

A diode should read in one direction only, swap the meter leads and if it read in the other direction either the diode is bad or there is another component across it.

Yes the meter was on diode mode, and it did read in one direction only but since the values were so different between the first 2 1N4006 and the last one I wandered if this is normal

That's what I suspected. I'd call the diodes good.

What is the problem.

Default Diode Pack Location

Hi, sorry for a basic question but I’ve looked at the diagram for item 24 the diode pack for the fan. It looks like it would be in the middle of the engine bay under the windscreen, but I can’t find it? Is it under the bonnet or is it accessed from inside the car somehow?
Thanks in advance
