Trans MIL, what is most likely, where should I look first?

Hi cafexjs,

Since you've been able to scan and retrieve an OBD diagnostic trouble code, I assume your Jaguar is a 1996 or later model, but can you please give us the other details, such as model, engine, and if you know it, the transmission your car is equipped with? It's helpful if you visit your User Control Panel and edit your signature to include these details so they appear in all of your posts.

Aside from the code, are there any symptoms of misbehavior, such as engine stalling, low battery voltage, Restricted Performance or Limp Home Mode?

Cheers,

Don

I will update, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it is a '96 4.0 i-6. I'm not certain of the trans#, but it is a ZF. The car is late production, SN 226408. Crank sensor was recently replaced.

Hi cafexjs,

If the engine was stalling or failing to start due to a failing crankshaft position sensor, those events probably triggered the P1775 code. If you're not experiencing any other drivability issues, I would clear the code and see if it recurs.

P.S. Your transmission is the electronically-controlled ZF 4HP24 4-speed automatic.

Cheers,

Don

cafexjs,

That's a very late car, as you probably know! Look after that one!

Good luck

Paul
