Default Cruise Control not holding set speed

Hi All,

As I slowly work through perfecting and reinstating everything to work as it should, I’m now looking at my CC which works fine in setting and maintaining the set speed, but on an incline the car speed drops off. It appears that the accelerator setting is static and does not increase to compensate for the hill. Once over the incline and back on flat roads the speed increases and settles on the set speed, till the next incline.
Any thoughts or ideas as to where the issue may be, would be appreciated.
I’ve checked the bellows, ensuring there are no leaks and confirmed that the solenoids work.

Cheers;

My first thought is to check the actuating cable. Is there any slack to be taken up?

After that I wonder if the cruise control module isn't seeing or recognizing the speed drop? Not sure how you'd test or diagnose this, other than substitution. But, I'm just two sips into my first cup of coffee. Clearer brains will surely come along

Cheers
DD

Great thought 💭 Doug, but I’m afraid there’s no cigar for that one. But keep them coming. 😉

I've had similar problems in the past and it was usually a vacuum leak problem.
the bellows itself on one occasion and a dislodged valve pad on one of the solenoids another time.
l think what happens is it holds vacuum enough to hold the bellows at a certain point despite the leak but not enough to increase the load.
