Default Rear main seal leak

Its the last leak. Iv bought every plug. Every gasket. Even the aluminum D plugs.

is this one reaaaally an engine out gongshow? Can I not just run a vacume line into it with a lawn mower filter and siphon off the spray? Cant go above 2500rpm anymore without spraying onto the exhaust like a cat in heat.

Have you pulled and cleaned the mesh oil/air separator under the pig snout at the front of the engine? Commonly plugged, they cause excess crankcase back pressure which blows out of the rear main seal. When properly cleaned, you should be able to see light through it.

Iv been away for awhile. Some might recall I have a aftermarket crank engine filter full suction valve delete like OG? setup. And yes it worked for years to mitigate oil leaks. Shes about done now.

I have one too, but not as bad as yours. Assuming you have the rope seal, it is highly likely that the leak is NOT from the seal, but from the metal to metal joins surrounding the bearing cap. Unless the oil is dripping out downwards from the centre of the exterior of the bearing cap, it is the metal to metal leaking. The only cure, as far as I know, is as follows:
  • support engine with beam
  • swing down subframe
  • remove sump
  • remove sandwich plate
  • unbolt rear main seal/bearing cap, being careful to not disturb/scratch or move the half of the rope seal in the cap
  • clean up all mating surfaces
  • then apply sealing The Right Stuff sparingly to those surfaces, and also into the vertical slot each side of the bearing cap that OEM had a one-piece rubber seal in it.
  • reassemble.
Now I have not done this, yet, I hasten to add, as I am awaiting the time I get so bored that I decide to rebuild the engine, just for the fun of it (and maybe interesting Son no. 2 in the process). I have astonishingly accumulated just about every part needed, all OEM, including new pistons, liners, conrods, heads, and all sorts of Rob Beere goodies like high output oil pump, steel camshaft oil feed tower, etc etc. A completely unnecessary job of course, as the car pulls like at train to very high speeds, and everyone knows the V12 lasts for ever given decent oil and a damn good caning every time you use it!
If you decide to get stuck in, do post your procedure and photos.

Have you got a vacuum/pressure gauge you can hook up? Would certainly be handy to know whether you have positive or negative crankcase pressure before dismantling anything major.

Iv got max suction, pcv valve deleted and a oil catch in line back to intake manifold. It worked for a long time to reduce drips etc
