Started on building my new custom front and added the foglights...
Not painted yet, but I like it
I have the square headlights but I bought a set of used round quad headlights. It will all be test fitted and painted black afterwards...
The old bumper mounts will be used to fit new custom bumpers...

 

I like the dark mesh grill. It sets off the center divider and V12 emblem much better than either the stock grill, or polished stainless mesh.

I'll be interested to hear how you plan to make the custom bumpers. Will you eliminate all the rubber, and keep them all chrome?

 

I also prefer your use of round driving/fog lights with the quad round headlights. What brand are yours?

When I get around to redoing the front end on JagZilla, I plan to buy a set of round Cibie driving lights, and placing them very close together, similar to what Shelby did with the 67 GT500.

 

that's what I was thinking too the round fog lights have an outher rim with blue leds and an inner halogen light. They can both be turned on separately. I will use the blue led rim with the normal headlights and the halogens as fog lights... the leds give a very nice glow

 

I am really impressed with the grill...I agree w/ JagZilla...the V12 emblem is now prominent...Awesome!

 

I plan on filling the removed pieces of the grill and painting it black this weekend. I'm not sure, but maybe I will add a red pinstripe around the grill after it is painted black...

I will update pictures asap.

I too like the grill and would like to know what you used for material to make it? And could you post a close-up pic?

 

Are you sure you want to paint it all black? It looks pretty good with the chrome outer frame and black mesh.

 

I agree, I think it looks great how it is.

 

It does not look bad, but if you look up close you can see the marks and scratches where the inside of the grill was cut of from the outher side of the grill. So I will file the remaining plastic off and use filler to make things smooth. After that it will all be painted.

 

I'm very happy with how the grill turned out

all the filed off pieces filled with metal putty and then sanded and primed with spray filler.
after that 4 layers of black paint I will let the paint dry for a few days and then add a red pin stripe at the bottom of the grill.

How did you attach it to the old grill frame? Can you show a photo of the other side?

Great job!! it looks realy good. I did the same a while ago and agree with Jagzilla that it brings out the V12 emblem.

 

It is really a simple modification that everyone can do, this is what you need

- scissors that can cut through plastic
- plastic 90° rail, 40x40mm , 200cm long (durable and bendable)
- rivets 3mm thick, 7mm long + a few screws
- 2K superglue
- filler + filler spray
- sandingpaper
- black gloss paint

I started cutting the pieces of plastic out of the plastic rail. 4 on top, 4 on bottom and 2 long in the middle + 2 long on both sides.

On top you cut to nice rounded shape and drill holes in it. on the bottom I left them wider so they hold the mesh better.

Start sawing the inner pieces out of the grill. Where the plastic was attachted to the frame, use a dremel grind away the plastic. Grind away all exessive material on both sides of the V12 badge and the outsides. Start filling all the plastic so it becomes smooth and you can no longer see that there was plastic before. sand the filler to perfect finish.
on botom side you will be left with 2 triangle pieces missing on both sides (where lower attachment was. I glued a piece of plastic underneath the frame and filled that too with filler...

Now glue (with 2 component superglue) the plastic pieces you made at exactly the same spots where you removed the inner frame on both sides of the grill.

Let dry for 12 hours.

Now place the mesh on top of the grill. Screw the mesh to the grill (behind the V12 badge). The rest of the attachment is done with the rivets. Now cut away excessive mesh.

Mask the V12 badge with masking tape.

Clean well and give it a few layers of spray filler. sand each time with P1000 paper in between layers.

When you are happy with the look, give it a few layers of black paint.

It took me 2 weekends but I take my time for these things

I like thoes fog lights, on my car I have them tucked behind the grill, and they are yellow. I love your bumper idea, cant wait to see how it turns out
