As you say, plenty on eBay. I looked on eBay usa and a good selection available.

I got one from a Morris j4 van heater rhiostst , Brand spanking on ebay a 1/3 of jaguar packaged one same lucas switch. The joke is when I got it I immidiatly bypassed it as its a unnecessary piece of kit, that makes dimm lights even dimmer.

You are dead right. The best dimmer is a non existent one, I just removed mine and wired across where it had been.
Now I can see the instruments in the dark, especially after removing most of the green shading on the bulbs.
If you have eyes like an owl you may need the dimmer.
