DB7 Rear Springs & Shocks
I am look at replacing my springs and shocks (dampers) and have read where some people have replaced their rears with those from the DB7. What is the advantage in doing that and what are the correct part numbers to use on my 95 4.0 coupe? Does it change the ride height? What about the front, is there a better set-up for the XJS front springs and shocks?
RonaldP, Whatever you do stay away from the Monroe #39003. They will not fit '95-'96 XJS. After quite a difficult time returning the Monroe's, I installed 4 Boge shocks on the rear. Fit perfectly and ride well. No ride height change.

Hi
I'm new on here and from the UK, I have DB7 springs and Gaz adjustable shocks(dampers) all round on my 95 6.0 coupe, the springs give a very slightly lower stance and the shocks really control the heavy front end very well.
Regards
Charlie

King is a spring manufacturer in Australia. They are one of the very few companies that make off-the-shelf performance springs for the SI-SIII XJ6 and XJS. If you're in the US, you will either pay shipping from Australia (very expensive) or order from their US distributor and possibly wait 4-6 months for them to arrive by boat.
I have a set of the lowering King springs on the rear of my XJ6 with a set of KYB shocks. The setup is a little stiffer than stock but not as stiff as I would like - not sure if that's a result or the springs, the shocks, or both. I was only able to install one of the front lower springs before my car went into storage - I don't think it lowered the front of the car. Maybe it needs a little time to settle.

Thanks, for the King Spring education... The KYB shocks are the ones I have decided to use on my XJS. Did the front springs maintain the same height as stock? I want to raise mine up about an inch or so. My spoiler is taking a beating on some of our speed bumps. I will find the King distributor in the US or go direct if I don't find an equivalant spring source.

Here's the US distributor I found that will ship them to you for around $25, instead of paying ten times that if you buy them from Australia:
Primitive Racing Performance Parts
The catch is he orders a batch every few months, and they come over on a cargo ship, so you have to wait a few months from order to delivery.
Only the first few years of DB7 springs work, and I believe lower the car about 3/4". You can also lower the car a bit by removing most or all of the spacers above/below the front springs. Also, you can place spacers under the spring pan, between it and the lower wishbone, to lower the front. According to Jaguar Monthly, these spacers result in lowering twice the thickness of the spacer.

They can be here that quick if you order them off of Ebay Australia and have them shipped directly to you and pay the high shipping costs. The months of waiting I mentioned was if you wanted to only pay the $25 shipping from the US distributor who gets them in by boat every few months.
I had a nightmare trying to a lower a car once where the springs didn't lower it at all so I used the lowest springs King Springs sells that fit an XJS in the front. If they make it too low, I'll just add a couple of the shims back in.
I haven't installed them yet. They are still sitting in the box next to my gorgeous new wheels, patiently waiting...

Although I only have one of the two front King springs installed, I think my front end is going to be a little high. I have a supercharger assembly that should add about 120 lbs to the front of the car. If it's still too high after that, I am going to make lower spring perch spacers.
