Dead battery. Locked trunk. Can't enter

Try applying 12VDC through the cigar lighter with the key in the ignition, turned on. This should backfeed the system so you can open the trunk. If the cigar lighter is usually hot without the key turned on, you won't have to use the ignition.
You should be able to getg into the trunk with the key. Try having the key straight up and down and then opening the trunk.
If the lighter idea doesn't work, under the hood, on the firewall, are a couple of terminls that feed directly to the battery.

I winterized the car, a 94 XJS V12 Conv. - disconnected the battery - then by mistake used the valet key. Now the trunk won't open. I tried supplying power via the lighter socket but that only seemed to supply power to some of the systems, indicators, windows. No power to the horn, radio, seats etc. And of course no power to the central locking.
I've looked under the hood but can't see an obvious terminal to attach the positive jumper lead to. Can anyone be more specific? Or tell me which is the hot pole on the alternator.
Grateful for any help anyone has.

Not sure about a '94 model but the older XJSs had two "+" posts on the firewall

Hi Doug
I had a look and there are two posts, covered with black rubber boots, coming out of the firewall in front of the drivers side, LHD, I'm in Canada. I tried the jump cables but no power. Any thoughts? I've done a quick check of the fuses and they're OK.
The only thing left is going through the back of the inside of the car. It's a 2 seater XJS, anyone know how much of a job this is? Or if it's possible?
This is driving me nuts. I notice XKs have the same problem but they've got an access hole under the license plate to trip the lock. If I ever get this bloody trunk open the first thing I'm going to do is drill a hole!
Anyway Doug thanks for the quick response.
Cheers

Thanks to this forum, I was able to unlock my trunk. The key wouldn't work at first, but the WD40 in the key hole did the trick. You just have to make sure the spray gets past the shield of the lock. Luckily, my spray can had the staw-like attachment that could get past the shield.
Happy driving!

You can open the engine cover and disconnect the high low beam dip module, locate the BROWN wire in the socket that it plugs into and plug a spade connector into it and charge the battery that way....
yes that brown wire is normally HOT...
how do I know? my high low beam module went out and I had to analyze it and make a way to get home with the low beams hot wired on....
5 days later my new high/low beam module arrived....
