You should be able to getg into the trunk with the key. Try having the key straight up and down and then opening the trunk.

If the lighter idea doesn't work, under the hood, on the firewall, are a couple of terminls that feed directly to the battery.

No power to the horn, radio, seats etc. And of course no power to the central locking.

I've looked under the hood but can't see an obvious terminal to attach the positive jumper lead to. Can anyone be more specific? Or tell me which is the hot pole on the alternator.

Grateful for any help anyone has.

Not sure about a '94 model but the older XJSs had two "+" posts on the firewall

Default Dead battery, locked trunk

Thanks to this forum, I was able to unlock my trunk. The key wouldn't work at first, but the WD40 in the key hole did the trick. You just have to make sure the spray gets past the shield of the lock. Luckily, my spray can had the staw-like attachment that could get past the shield.

Happy driving!

Thanks to SAMC, I got my boot open. A little WD-40 and slight pressure on the handle while jiggling the key worked for me. No need to hotwire the lighter, battery on charger as I write this.

You can open the engine cover and disconnect the high low beam dip module, locate the BROWN wire in the socket that it plugs into and plug a spade connector into it and charge the battery that way....

yes that brown wire is normally HOT...

how do I know? my high low beam module went out and I had to analyze it and make a way to get home with the low beams hot wired on....

5 days later my new high/low beam module arrived....
