Default Differential oil change in 91 XJS,

Looking for information on changing the Diff oil, how much fluid will it take and how much anti slip additive should be used?

Hi DaveL,

I have moved your post from the forum for the XJ40 to the forum for the XJS. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

Cheers,

Don

About 2 litres. Use diff oil specially formulated for LSD diffs, not additives.

Hi, I have just changed mine and in the book it states 1.6 litres. I filled mine through the speedo hole which is a bit higher than the fill plug and as Greg says I got 2 litres in. It wouldn’t have taken a drop more though so use your own judgement when filling if you don’t want lots of mess. I also used lsd oil that was recommended by Greg .

Another excellent piece of advice given on here by one of the lads was not to remove the drain plug until your sure the fill plug will come out!!!
