Default Door seals

For the purpose of leak control and wind noise suppression, I'm wanting to replace the door seals on my 87 XJ-S V12 coupe.

I'm having an issue trying to figure out what parts to order.

I've attached two pages from the parts catalog.

BAC6019 appears to be the door seal that fits into the car body. If that's the case (and I'm not sure it is) shouldn't there be a separate part # for the other side of the car?

The second image shows three part numbers for the RH door seal, and three for the LH door seal, yet in the drawing the part appears to be one piece.

From examining the seal on the actual door, it appears to be nothing more than some rubber held on with double-sided tape? Is this the case, or is this something a PO was likely to have done.

Any help in sorting out the part # confusion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

It appears that illustration #2 covers VIN ranges much later than your 1987 would fall within

BAC6019 should be correct for your car. It works on both sides because each side has two hard 90º corners, diagonally opposed. Everything else is one big swoopy-loopy thing

PITA to install, in my experience. They're inserted/squeezed into a retaining channel

Cheers

One new seal is now in place.

It wasn't too bad until reaching the front of the opening, where the door gets in the way of seeing what one is doing.

Still trying to figure out what to do about the dead windshield wiper motor.

Thanks,

John
