Downpipe removal.

Hello again,
A few more explanations, following a big front right exhaust noise, my mechanical specialist told me that it came from the seals between the engine and the manifold.
I've than decided to have a look. I've remove the air-pump, exhaust tubes and Y and I succeed in removal the front exhaust manifold. Some pictures.
Now that I have access to the seal, they seems to be in a pretty good shape for a 35 years old cat.
Now two questions:
- How can I access the three nuts from the rear one? Do I have to remove the starter?
- I would like to remove the two front catalyzers, where can I get the tubes? I've checked at AJ6.
Thx
Laurent

To my knowledge the rear nuts are just very hard to access, but I am not sure if removal of the starter is necessary on the pass. side. My guess would be "yes."
The catalytic converters themselves can just be replaced with generic ones.
I can't see any reason the manifold gasket would just start leaking, seems like it would more likely be the "donut" seal between the downpipe and exhaust manifolds.

Starter removal is a must do. But also you'll have problems getting it out, as the studs are in the way. You'll need to remove the studs in order to make enough space to get the manifold (the downpipe is what you called the Y pipe) off. The front come out with engine and studs in situ. The rear either need the engine out of the studs removed. At least as far as my trying went.
