Drivers window binding
The drivers side window on my 1996 XJS 2+2 makes a noise of glass scraping against metal. It is most noticable when rolling the window up with the door closed.
If I raise the window up and down with the door open, the scraping sound pretty much goes away. There does not seem to be any marks on the window.
The car is currently is storge for the winter, but this will propably be my first spring project.
I'd appreciate any thoughts as to what I will be getting into.

You have frameless windows, so the sound is most likely to be from the channels in the door. Remove the door trim panel and have a look at the channels, which usually have a metal outer u with a rubber U channel fited into the metal one, with a furry velvet inside to the rubber U. Probably the glass has worn though the rubber/fur somewhere. New linings can be bought and basically pressed into the metal outer channel.
Maybe a squirt of silicone in the channels will do the trick on its own. Worth a try.
