Dummy dash lights
I have a 1989 XJS. The bulb out light comes on my dash when I turn my lights on. I checked all my lights and they are fine I did replace my license plate bulbs with LED bulbs. Could this be my problem? Thanks
If the bulb out light stays on more than about 20 secs (it is meant to do this and then should go out) then the LEDs might be your problem. LEDs do not draw enough current to make the bulb out module activate.
However, if the LEDs are only in the number plate light, I am not sure the number plate lights are included in the circuit the bulb out light reports on. Put the old bulbs back in and see if the light goes out?

Don (& Greg),
The numberplate bulbs are in the bulb failure circuits, so it's extremely likely that the change to LED has caused the problem.
I have a potential answer to the problem (other than changing the bulbs back). But it's due to be published in the JEC magazine over the next 2 months. So I'll wait until it's published before posting similar here.
Cheers
