Default Early 93 Convt. w/sport Pack Help!

I'm having a difficult time locating suspension parts for my 93. It's an early facelift car VIN# 186... Can't seem to locate springs, shocks (rear) etc.. Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Loads of suppliers in the UK who will ship anywhere. Coventry West in the USA to name but one. David Manners, SNG Barratt, UK ebay, XJ Restorations very good on springs and shocks according to PTJS1.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find aftermarket suppliers. I'd love to go OEM but options would be great.

Dom,

I know I sound like stuck record on this, but I really like Eibach springs and Gaz adjustable height platform shocks. Try contacting Keith Parrington at XJ Restorations in the UK and say Paul recommended this to you.

Cheers

Paul:

How are the eibach springs different from stock? Are they stiffer and lower the car a bit?

I am currently run stock springs(from and barratt) and bilstein shocks (some random bilstein distributor online)

86jag,

The Eibach springs were developed from the Aston DB7 springs by Ray Ingham to be a replacement sports spring. When I first fitted them with adjustable Gaz shocks, the rear rode a little lower than standard. I then fitted the new adjustable platform height Gaz shocks and was able to get my original ride height back. With the adjustable bounce / rebound adjustment, you then dial in your preferred ride characteristic.

Will these fit with "sport" suspension?

Dom,

On late facelift cars, "Sports Suspension" just means different springs and shocks (plus slightly lower profile tyres originally). There are no other components.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Paul. I'm not sure if it's the same on the 93. I have a switch to change to "Sport mode".

As Doug correctly says on the 93.5 MY (US 94MY) onwards "Sport" switch has the following effect :
Normal mode "provides economy operation by causing the transmission to upshift at lower engine speeds and throttle openings. Start off occurs in second gear unless accelerator is pressed to kick down position.

Sport : "Sport mode allows the engine power to be used to its full potential at all times. Start off occurs in first gear and upshifts and kick down are tailored to performance"
