Default Early Thottle Position Sensor now available

Guys
FYI, the original, black coloured TPS, the Bournes type, with three lugs that fits under the throttle capstan, has been unavailable for over a decade. Well I have just bought a new one from David Manners. It is Part Number EAC2670*.

This means a new TPS can be fitted directly to the capstan on pre-(about) 1988 V12 HEs, without having to have the capstan adaptor that is required if the later, small two-lug red TPS has to be used.

Any indication who is manufacturing it? Just curious.

I see them available for US $137.87 , is that the one? I think I should replace mine while throttle assembly is off the engine.

Did anyone explore exchangeability with other brands? I see TPS-es for bunch of models in $10-15 range. Is it anything more advanced than 6Kohm potentiometer with 90 degree rotation?

I used a Mustang TPS and it worked fine. Info in this thread.

Others have had both good and poor results with the same mod

Hmm... per that thread mustang's TPS "is compact and rotates in the right direction with a 270º swing."

How is 270º swing work when our throttle is wide open at 90 deg.

I measured my TPS to have 6k resistance, the 'slider' seem to reach both ends at the ends of 90deg turn and that make sense as it would correspond to 0 - 100% openning .

Does anyone know total resistance of mustang's TPS, and if it will reach 'other end' at 90 deg turn?

Thank you.

I do not know if the 6 cylinder cars had the same TPS as the V12s, sorry. If the part number listed for your car is the same as the one I gave in the original post, then it will be OK, if not, not.

The part number is EAC2670 for 6 cyl cars, so it is the same part number. Thank you.

The 270º statement in the previous write-up is incorrect. The Mustang TPS is 90º swing

Got and installed new TPS, the new one was 5.5Kohm (old one was showing 5.9). The quality did not feel like $120 piece, but with long list of other things to do I opted out from adopting TPS from other model.

Greg, thank you for letting everyone know about the part!
