This is the continuing saga of the crank no start issue with my 95 xjs 4.0 convertible. Im fairly convinced ,after trying just about every suggested fix ,my ecu got damaged from moisture getting in the cabin over winter. The two compelling reasons being. On several occasions i witnessed exorbitant amonts of condensation in the inside glass surface areas and when i ran diagnostics with my carsoft and manually go into the engine control module i get the message that the ecu is undetectable. That said there are a few options. Buy a replacement ecu with the same part number or have this one rebuilt. Ive pulled the ecu to inspect and it looks clean inside but on inspection i noticed a lable stuck over the original sagem-lucas lable. The 4.0L N/A LHE 1410 AG/6— numbers match but the top lable has the number 80576A while the number on the original sticker is80458E . In finding a replacement does this number need to match the original? The car drove and worked very well with the exception of the convertible top and rear quarter windows not working. Sorry for the long post but any insight to this matter is most appreciated. Thank you ,Jeff
Generally, a stick on label like that indicates a dealer installed software update, usually to correct a glitch in the original software. I would recommend starting with the same number, and revert to the original version only if you can’t find the updated.
Have you checked for powers and grounds at the appropriate terminals of the ECM connector? Unusual for the module to totally fail in my experience.
Thanks for this .ive noticed my ecu or ecm does not have that third additional sticker indicating the proms were updated. Could this be my no start issue?

No. the recall was to correct an EGR issue. Completely unrelated to a no start issue.
