While the engine and gearbox are out of the car I would like to compile a list of jobs on them to get done. I’ve already done basics like change the plugs but what would others do while it’s easy to get at and work on.? Thanks for your help.

 

Assuming V12 Brinny:

• Camcover gaskets and half moon seals
• Sump and sandwich plate gaskets unless bone dry
• Under the sandwich plate (if it has to come off) are the oil pickup and delivery pipes. These have O ring seals which harden and leak. renewing these is easy to do and if you use Viton O rings they will last forever.
• Clean the V
• Renew the oil pressure senders
• Check cam oil feeds for leaks and renew copper seals if needed, but CAREFUL as threads very short. Better banjo bolts are available, just seen some advertised on Ebay.
• ? renew starter motor if the original is still on the engine
• Belts, fan clutch
• Replace the manifold balance pipe hoses and the coolant crosspipe/filler spout hoses with silicone (just buy a length of the diameter you need from Viper and cut to length)
• Renew thermostats if not yet done
• renew all vac hoses with silicone vac hose

I would always replace the crankshaft rear oil seal on any engine that I had out of the car - you have to split the engine and trans to get to it and you'll never get a better opportunity.
