engine cover
In my search for a 1995/1996 XJS I have noticed many that had the silver paint from the top of the engine look like it peeled/burnt off. Can anyone tell me what causes this and is it a sign of a bigger problem??? Thank you Ed

Not an issue, Typically it is the result of casting the cover. What price range are you looking? I have a 96 in great shape and live in Venice,Fl.

The cover is made from magnesium. There’s some issue with the paint and magnesium. If you do a search on magnesium, you should come across at least one really good discussion with pics.
I recently powder coated mine. Was careful to use someone that knows their way around magnesium. Will it last? I’ll let the forum know when I spot any failure.
