Default Engine removal

All,

I am getting closer to the point where I am going to be removing the engine from the '88 H&E parts car.

Anything I should know beforehand about taking the engine out such as motor mounts, exhaust, connectors, drive shaft disconnect, etc....?

I plan to take the front bumper, hood/bonnet, grille, and radiator off first so I can take the motor out the front of the car.

What is the weight of the engine with the transmission attached?

Thx,

Brad
Hire or buy a decent engine crane, plus an adjustable balance bar to allow you to control the angle of the extraction. The engine and transmission together are about 750 pounds. The engine will come out FAR more easily if you have removed the front subframe as a unit beforehand. If the exhaust downpipes are intact and on the engine manifold still, you will have to unbolt the rear V mounts from the chassis rails to get the lot out, as the flanges on the downpipes jam on them. Once out, you are amazed it could all be stuffed into the engine bay!
This pic shows what i used:

The future owner is clearly delighted to see you making good progress with the 18th birthday present.
