Default F#&king cable leads

I dont ****ing understand why my cable leads dont fit I cant see how any of this works unless the dist cap can be turned? Or Ithe cables are defective from the supplier (Formula Power)

I know others bought from them wtf is wrong here?

For the record I had this tacked onto a work order at a shop it wasmt me who arranged them or broke the god damn cable boots.

When I got my set from NGK none were labelled. i dug up a list of HT lead lengths, none were what I had; some closer than others , found the best match minimizing error and got them to work ok. Just checked my tablet and the list ain't here, but I can rummage tommorow and see if I can dig it up.

I can't tell much from the pic nor actually answer your question.

But, from experience I can tell you that it takes a bit of patience to get 'em all organized correctly. As you know, it's like 5 pounds of sh*t in a 3 pound bag. I recall being stumped a couple times and having to change the routing a bit to make it all work

Cheers

Take everything apart. Disconnect all the leads so there are no more connected in the V. Lay the new leads out and slowly,,, starting from the closest to dizzy or the furthest from dizzy (all the A Bank for instance closest to farthest from the distributor) and do them one at a time... Pause after each placement seeing what ya got. That's what I did the first time, that's what I do when I do it, now. And it ain't NOOOO fun.

Curse if ya need ta curse, lol

Yes its not a helpful pic I need my old set and a $211 refund for ****ing up my stuff from the shop I even yanked the AC unit to make it easy.

As the saying goes if you want it done right, drink a ton of beer, then do itself.

I think it was Greg who bought from the company I have a hard time believeing a 100% ignition related supplier for ALL makes would screw up that badly.

Atleast they got my rear bearing done in less than a glacial age so repair bill was low.

if anyone has a nice pic of a marelli cable arrangement it would be appreciated!

I bought Lucas ignition ones, Vancouver. I carefully measured what I wanted and sent them this list. I would do the same in your situation. I have found Formula Power leads to be excellent and not too expensive either.

Yours be Marelli, right?????

Memory, and thats not so good today, is the Marelli leads be different to the Lucas leads. I KNOW they got 2 coil leads, but the layout is different.

Aftermarket are pure MONGRELS for linking ALL V12 with the Lucas style, as the XJS was the only version with Marelli at that time.

TopGun, and Eagle, are 2 brands down here that have XJS HE, 1982, to 1992 as the same lead kit, AND they only have ONE coil lead, so Lucas set up 100%. Years of me trying to tell them the difference, NO CHANGE.

Hence Magnecor for me for a very long time. NOT cheap, but they FIT, and are labelled.

I have a Marelli ignition and bought replacement leads from “Mr Retro Leads” in the UK. The seller (Anthony Fitchett) was very helpful in ensuring that I bought the proper configuration for my vehicle. I had no trouble installing them.

Hey, Sorry that happened. I hope you have stepped away and taken some breaths.
I did my plug wires not too long ago, but as suggested I had everything else off the top of the motor (I just got the car and it needs everything, not just that). The wire set I used was from Rock auto, its a Standard brand part #55415. They fit well, although I had to refer to my own pics to get the layout correct. They also had a and b bank wires color coded which made it a far sight easier to begin with.
I hope it gets better from here.....
