Default Free to a Good Home

Those of you who are aware of my soap opera from my other thread know that I threw a rod in my 1986 XJS and I am doing an LS3 conversion.

I do not have the time or means to part out this engine, so rather than selling it as $50 of scrap metal, it is free to anyone who wants it. So if you need a doner V12 engine, its all yours.

Some caveats:

I will not ship it. If you want to arrange for a shipper to pick it up...fine with me. The engine is in a shop and I will not be there to help with logistics though, but I am sure my mechanic will help out.

I cannot send you specific parts from it. Once again it is in a shop and I am not going to pay them to remove stuff. The whole engine or nothing I am afraid.

The engine will be pulled next week. That is when it will be available.

I am sure my shop would rather not be stubbing their toes on this for too long, so you will need to get it out of there within a few weeks.

It did not punch through the block, if you were to just look at it it looks like a great engine. However, once it starts, the knocking sound will fill your ears.

It looks pretty clean from the outside:

Mileage is 74k.

Oil pressure at cold start...no idea. Did i mention I drove this car for one day before I threw the rod; about twelve miles. I have started the car exactly once.

OOOOOch!!!

1. Spun a bearing or two. Connecting rod/s stayed on the journal.
aka burnt a bearing or more...
2. Threw a rod. Rod busted and stayed in the crankcase. Engine quit.

3. Cut or sawed it in two!!! Racing terminology. Huge holes in block and sump. Engine quit...

1 & 2 fixable at great $'s.

3. Done for. strip off the ancillaries and scrap the rest. Alloy prices
might not be all that bad!!! Defray the costs of the Ls1!!!
