Default Front Hub Spindle

Short question. Seems like I have some problems with my left side front Hub Spindle and I might have to replace it. Will a front Hub Spindle from a 1985 fit my 1990 XJ-S.

Regards,
Rune

YES, in a word

Have fun, they are in that upright sooooooo bloody tight. I found an engineering shop with a 50tonne press and man that thing BANGED when it released, heated and all.

I got both of mine out with a bloody big hammer. Both axles were stuffed and needed replacing so I wasn't worried about damaging them. Remove the carrier and put it in a vice with the jaws loose and a bit of hard wood with a hole big enough for the stub axle to go through. Undo the nut a couple of mm and hit it hard. A few good hits and it came loose.

It might just be easier to get the whole knuckle plus spindle for an abs equipped car (89+), as you would just upbolt everything off and then remove the hub. Sounds like a lot less work, except getting the abs equipped knuckle.

Might be able to get my hands on a 93-95 hub with spindle (front left side). Will this fit my 1990 XJ-S ?

Yes it will fit. Check the axle for wear and make sure the bearings are a snug fit
