Default front windscreen seal

I had an issue with water leaking and dripping on the stainless step. when I fitted it I used a copy, cheaper, seal and it puckered up on the top corners so this time I went for the twice the price one from sng about £93 inc del that they describe as jaguar, when I fitted the last one it seemed too large when fitting to the glass so I fitted it to the body and then slotted the glass in to the fitted seal, it wasn't to big then it seems that the glass is not a tight fit in the seal that's why it appears to large. also the join is at the top and I have read posters saying it should be at the bottom, who's right,
I have pro fitter coming on sunday, cash job, as I don't fancy doing it alone no

that's not a join, that's a come apart, just been in touch with autoglass technical and they said if its welded it doesn't matter, but it will be dead centre wherever it is,
so that's sorted

What's the difference? I don't think there are any other joins on the seal--it's one piece.

That's correct, a perfect unequal rectangle means the join goes where the join is.

So since the only gap is the one on the bottom, why is that not the join?

you have a damaged seal there should not be a break or separation in the seal it should be one continuous piece

That is an older photo. The gap's been fixed. It is/was precisely in the middle.
However, if it's supposed to one continuous piece, then there would be no join to begin with.

You seem to be resorting to personal insults now for some reason. I'm out of here.

Someday your car is a facelift and has a bonded (glued in) screen, that gap is only a trim.

With the rubber gasket screen the join should go at the top. Also wI would use Polyurethane Window sealant both between the rubber and glass and rubber and metal. If done properly it will not leak again.
