Default Fuel cut off

Hi,
I want to put a fuel cut off switch in my car and would like to know which is the best wire to use for this and where it is located. I prefer that the wire is in the trunk. If you read my previous post you will know why I prefer to use the trunk!
Thanks,
Jomo

It is easiest to rig something up in the wires to the crash-activated fuel cutoff switch, which on the V12 pre facelifts is near the door pillar.

Jomo,

Agree with Greg that it's better to run it in the car off the cut-off switch.

However, if you really want to run it in the boot, the fuel pump relay is on the left side of the boot near the front behind that side panel. (A silver relay, I think, or maybe blue?) Wire the switch into the power feed side of that relay.

Sorry for the late reply. I do not have a v12 xjs, it is the 4.0 engine which I have. In any case which side is my cutoff switch by? Can you be a little clearer please about where the pillar is? Is the piller the post behind the door? I plan on installing the switch tomorrow.
Thank you,
Jomo

I found the cut off switch and wired up my fuel cut off switch. I did take your advice by using that switch!
Thanks,
Jomo

downsouth,
This one is a bit awkward to explain but I will try my best. Imaging you put your hand on the passengers side door panel, all the way up front as far as possible and about half way up the panel and then closed the door, then your hand will be touching this rectangular shape cover in the interior of the car-the switch is behind this panel. Alternatively look to the left of the passenger kick panel, near the rear (towards the trunk/boot) and you will see this rectangular cover.
If this is not helpful I will simply take a picture of it.

Yes, if you don't say bingo you haven't found it! Good job. I hope I was helpful.

Hi Jomo (and others).

Two questions:

1) I want to remove the rectangular cover (over the fuel cutoff switch) without snapping it. How do you do that? The bottom swings out a little, but I don't want to break something.

2) Still have some sort of fuel starvation issue (car will bog out and/or stall occasionally). How do you test the cut off switch? (odds are it's not the switch, but I want to rule that out).

thanks!

Mine actually came right off with a gentle tug on the cover.
There are two wires going to the inertia switch and if you connect the two wire you are basically bypassing the switch. For what I was doing I did not have to remove the wire harness to the switch but I am sure that you can and then just connect a small jumper wire between the two prongs and see if your car starts. I too do not think that this switch is your problem but it is certainly worth the few minutes to rule it out.
Good luck,
Jomo
