fuel smell in oil
hello, I bought an 84 xjs and starter is stuck.so havent tried to start it yet.i checked oil and it has a fuel smell to it,but still feels like oil.I know the fuel pump is in trunk,so how can fuel get into crank case.??anyone? thanks
A lengthy period of trying to start a big V12 like you have in the XJS can result in a lot of fuel sloshing around. Any unburnt fuel in the cylinders can then leak past the piston rings and into the oil. The smell of petrol is very strong in relation to the amount.
thanks for reply,ok so its basically running past the piston rings due to not being detonated by spark.the car has also set for a few years.is there a way to pump oil through the eng after oil change Ofcourse.? can the distributor be removed and turn the oil pump with a long flat bit and a drill.?so eng doesnt start dry?
