Default Fuel supply line - missing fitting on left

I have only looked over the engine a little and I see a few issues.. there seems to be what I think is a fuel supply line and fitting missing on left side fuel rail... and it needs 1 injector plug end.. and maybe 1 injector..as the plug is just laying loose..

I've moved the question from your thread in New Member Area - Intro a MUST to XJS forum. This is the place to post technical questions.

Some models have a fuel temperature switch in that hole. Your car may have had one and it was removed at some point in the past

As long as the hole is blanked off (ie a blind hole no exit possible for fuel), no need to do anything. If is is blanked off, then it was for a fuel temperature switch, again no need to do anything. If it is not blanked off, and fuel can come out of the rail, it must be securely blanked off.

Hi V12 CAT

That Brown Coloured Plug that goes in that hole in the Fuel Rail is just a Fuel Temperature Switch as 'Greg' & 'Doug' have said Part Number EAC 5086 where its only function is to prevent Vapour Lock if your Car has a Problem Starting in very Hot Weather and it it filled with a Wax Thernostat 'type of thingy'

If you put your little finger down the hole it was screwed into you will find it is Blanked off and if you look at the Base of this Thermo Switch EAC5086 you will find that its blanked off as well!

As long as you find it isn't causing more problems than it is solving, as it did on my Car then just put it back and connect it up, as there is a Vacuum Hose that goes on to each of those Two Spigots

Because without those Vacuum Hoses Connected, your Car will run 'Rich' and Over Fuel and that would not be good!

But if that switch should ever go wrong, you can just leave it where it is: As long as you can find a way to connect those two Vacuum Hoses together, or preferably just use a single long piece of Vacuum Hose without any joins and then take that Switch out of the Mix, unless you have a burning desire to spend over $100 on a New One!

If you want some Bedtime Reading, you can see the Massive Problem that it caused on my Car, when the Wax in this Thermostat Melted and then dripped down onto the Injector, which made me think I had a 'Mystery Fuel Leak'

Where as I didn't even know what this Temp Switch was, it took me for ever to try and Sleuth it out and then when all hope had finally gone and I'd tried everything that I could think of: Only then will the 'Wizard' aka 'The Wizard of Oz' come out of the 'Woodwork' aka 'Grant Francis' 'The Forum Legends Legend'

Who has forgotten more about Jags than almost anyone would ever know, who was able to show me how to Fix it in a 'Snap'

You can read about this gory never ending Saga here: Mystery Fuel Leak on 'Cherry Blossom' and how 'The Wizard of Oz' then Solved the Problem
