Greg,

Not Automatic Levelling, but the facelift cars had a twin cable adjustment system for the headlights, with the cable adjustment ends mounted at the front of the inner wings. I don't think this was fitted on US cars, hence why Malc is probably looking for some glass lens LHD units from Germany or other LHD markets.

The adjusting cable to the headlight has a motor which is controlled by a *** in the centre consul. I have found 1 motor and missed getting the *** a little while ago.
Was fitted to hardtops only, it seems

Malc,

Tks for the clarification. I hadn't appreciated that the German ones used a motor rather than just an adjustment cable. I've looked it up now. I don't there was any difference between Coupes & Convertibles. It seems it was fitted to all German XJSs.

Cheers

Paul

No such thing on my German XJ-S from 1977. I love how relatively simple it is compared to what some of you are struggling with

As mentioned, it's a Facelift feature, Leo. Early cars are much simpler, as we know. Despite it's V12, my pre-HE car is a much less complex car than my 4.0 Facelift.

Cheers
