Default headlights

Has anyone successfully changed the plastic lens out on the headlights ?

Besides the stainless spring clips holding the lens to the lamp housing there is also a caulking cement which is nasty to deal with.
The most dangerous possible outcome is ruining the chrome plating on the reflector housing.
I doubt if there is any way to clean that surface and the coating is very thin.
The inside of the plastic lens gets dusty and dirty and cleaning it will improve luminosity greatly.

Thanks. I see on ebay some lights that have had the lens changed so it must be possible

My lenses are glass. Single each side. The reflectors are silver coated not chrome. I have detached the glass from tyre metal housing by carefully cutting around the edge. It it quite soft.

Cool. Thats what l'm looking to do, I have rare LHD glass lights that the silver has gone bad on and can only find RHD replacements.
