My 1996 xjs convertible isn't latching the hood properly - the pins don't engage far enough down in the catches for them to latch. Looking at this, I can't see that I can elevate the latch mechanism - so it may be that the pins have gotten bent by someone (not me!) slamming the hood or something. I am attaching photos of the pins on mine and a shot of where they engage - the full extent - on the latches when I close this. Seems to me I could bend the pins about 1/4" more open - but before i take them off and do that I thought I would ask if anyone else with a 95/96 could just take a quick iphone snap of your pins and post it here? I'd like to see what the angle should look like...

 

I believe that the part that receives the pin is adjustable. Loosen the bolts and you can probably move them up.

I am attaching pics, but I'm not sure what you are looking to see.

The other alternative is to unbolt the pins and add shims to add 1/4"?
