I think the XJS finally coming up a bit in price in the US is long overdue as they really are good, fun and dependable (for the most part) cars.... well...that and I have a '96 (4.0 not 6.0) in excellent original condition with 45k miles I'd like to sell in a few years

I recently purchased a XJS Convertible celebration in the US. The average price for the last generation XJS convertible is in the US is €10,000,-and in Europe for the same €26,000,-
Including transport and taxes I now have one for €15,000,-in the Netherlands. The value in the US is a lot lower than in Europe.

Daim, you mention a Benz 600 V12 , i know a guy local here in Austin, he bought a 600 ,for $3500. US dollars, had it about couple months , and traded it off.

i asked him why, he said was a great car but one day backing out his driveway, steering felt odd,
he got out and it was leaking P/S fluid all on the ground.

had it delivered to a repair garage, estimated cost $4000. thou dollars , said the only way they would warrenty , using ALL new parts, pumps ,lines and a fluid heating affair , what the hell was that for??

thats it he was outta that baby!

i think this whole car industry is going nuts, but after some thought, the BIG companies
are going ELECTRIC ,and wants to clean out the used car markets!

I know a guy with an Audi A8 who was quoted $8,000 by a dealer to fix a coolant leak from the oil cooler. The cooler is behind the engine, and the engine has to be removed to access the seals, which cost $2, btw. He fixed it with Radweld or some such stuff in a bottle.

Yeah not cheap...

@ron

I didn't mean the S600 (W140) but the old, as many call it 'Grosser' (correct: Großer). The cars of dictators... I'd love one

Default Reality check

After seeing the 94 convertible go for $25 large on BaT this brings pricing right down to earth.

But wait. Here's another black XJS. Let's see what this one brings.

That'a a good way of looking at it. I really enjoy my 92 V12 convertible. I'm having the bushings replaced on the front end to (hopefully) address a vibration through the steering.

In my neck of the woods there are 3 XJS 1990 and 92 from 6,400 to 8,000 US
and they say everything works. Also nice looking cars.

i suspect mine would be worth anywhere from a couple grand to 6-7 on the high end depending on who was looking at it. its a 93 xjs convertable. with a sbc 350 i rebuilt myself roller cam roller rocker engine roughly neighborhood of 400 flywheel horsepower backed by a 700r4 a pretty decent but not 100% perfect repaint in a factor jaguar color but not my cars factory color. i would call it a 5 footer. there is some small flaws in the paint and its gotten a couple skuffs and rock chips in the few years sense i repainted it myself. runs and drives great and respectably quick.

one thing to remember is people can ask whatever they want for something does not mean that they are going to sell it. you can ask 1 million for a ragged out rust bucket. what matters is what someone will actually pay for it.

Another way of looking at it is "What offer would I accept for it?

I wouldn't let anyone drive Jesse away for less than $25K. $20K? Hmmm. Nope.
