How to remove radiator?
I have to remove the leaking radiator in my 1981 pre HE & am struggling. Shroud, fan clutch & top plate are all off, Condenser is moved forward & radiator is loose but I can't remove it as the oil cooler seems to be bolted to the radiator frame, stopping the rad from coming out. Manual suggests undoing the unions, but I really don't want to do this as I should imagine it making a huge mess.
Is there any way to unbolt the oil cooler to get the radiator out?
Thanks. Scotty.

OK,
Remove the front lower grille.
Look up at the brackets that support the engine cooler. It is indeed secured to 2 plates that are part of the radiator lower cross plate. From memory 11mm spanner, and ONE bolt per side.
Remove them, then work that cooler, with condensor intact FORWARD, as far as you possibly can.
Those stupid brackets will foul on all and sundry as you lift that radiator out of its hole.
CARE, and I repeat, CARE will be the key here.
The later HE had those brackets secured to the lower radiator crossmember, and I would be looking at possibly doing that if it were mine.
Our S2 V12 had that, and the vocabulary really expanded when that rad came out the first time. I altered it to the HE set up there and then, which really made so much sense.
Some serious DRINKING will be needed when that sucker is out, trust me.

Radiator removal
Wow!!! What a marathon effort. That is the toughest radiator I've ever had to remove.
Grant's advice made me persevere but it wasn't that simple.
After removing the lower grille, I still couldn't access the bolts to remove the oil cooler from the radiator. To get to them I had to remove the under tray and spoiler, and the front valance panel. Only then could I unbolt the oil cooler & with a lot of swearing and mashed fingers did I get the radiator out. All this for a leak from the bleeding tap on the tank!
Thanks to the guys that offered help. Much appreciated.
