How to Replace the Tag Light Lenses
This is my first attempt at sharing a how to post here. I found that my tag light lenses had crumbled with age and were hanging down. So, I set off to replace them myself. The first couple of pictures show how they had deteriorated.
There are a series of bolts that hold the whole jaguar trim assembly that houses both the tag lights and the reverse lights. I removed all the bolts and that assembly came loose. I then used painters tape and taped up the paintwork around where the assembly was so that I would not scratch or damage the paint. But to my surprise I found that the old assemblies were riveted on but the new assemblies screw on. You have to carefully drill out the rivets but don't enlarge the holes because the screws on the new ones require the size of the old hole to work. What I did was carefully drill the top of the rivet off with a larger drill bit then drill the center of the rivet off with a smaller drill bit. Here you see a picture of the original rivets.

After drilling out the rivets I was able to screw in the replacements. Then I removed the tape and bolted back the whole trim piece. This turned out to be a relatively easy do it yourself activity. I hope this helps someone who has the same issue with their tag light lenses.
